Chaka Khan
Chaka who is also known as Queen of Funk as she is also known is an American singer-songwriter. Through her more than fifty-year career, Chaka Khan was awarded 10 Grammys. Also, she has been named as the 65th highest-performing dancing artist in history by Billboard magazine. Born in Chicago, Illinois, she was first introduced to jazz by her grandmother from a young age. At the beginning of her career, she was a member of several groups. In the later years, she was part of a group that was named Rufus. With the group, she recorded her first record around the age of twenty. They won their first Grammy award the following year. Few years later, she made her debut album an artist on her own. Over the years, she released additional albums like "Echoes from an Era", "The Woman I Am" and one track called 'Funk This". Also, she is known for her charitable work. Chaka Khan Foundation, which was established to assist people with autism and children as well as poor families. Khan has also worked as an actor on occasions. She played the sister of Carrie, in the musical "Mama, I Want to Sing."
